Set for 8/27, Event Raised $500K+ for GradsFloyd Academy Student Prepares Teacher Appreciation BreakfastWFSD Music Department Inducted Into Long Island Music Hall of FameThe Floyd Academy is a newly designed volitional education program to help students succeed in a non-traditional school setting and provide them with an innovative and enriching learning experience.  The creative and inspiring staff members will instruct the students through the use of multiple instructional models to meet their individual needs. Each student will have an individualized graduation plan and will be prepared for the demands of the 21st century and for post-high school success. The Floyd Academy, with the motto, “Everyone Succeeds,” will serve approximately 75 students in grades 10 through 12. The goals of the Floyd Academy are to reduce the suspension rate, provide individualized support, and develop a unscratched and nurturing environment, foster positive and trusting relationships and remoter increase the overall graduation rate. The Floyd Academy is not punitive; students who have a desire to be successful and have faced roadblocks may make a request to enroll; staff members may moreover make referrals. Participation in the Floyd Academy is a privilege, and, due to overwhelming interest and limited capacity, we have a list of students waiting for acceptance. The program was designed to help students succeed.
