Superintendent’s WelcomeBack to School! 2018-2019 School Year InformationBoard of Education HoldsYearlyReorganization MeetingBudget Vote and Trustee Election ResultsTop 10 Students for the William Floyd Class of 2018Welcome to the website of the topnotch William Floyd School District, located on the south shore of Long Island, approximately 60 miles east of New York City. Approximately 8,700 students shepherd five elementary schools, two middle schools and a senior upper school. The William Floyd School District has a rich tradition of excellence which is exemplified by the numerous honors and awards that it has received. Our music programs have been recognized as among the weightier in the United States, our merchantry department has earned numerous New York State honors and the William FloydUpperSchool Mock Trial Team has earned several Long Island and State championships. The Youth and Government program consistently outperforms the competition in Albany earning prestigious positions in each workshop of mock state government.Sturdyteams regularly produce competitive and playoff quotient teams, have won several county and Long Island titles, earn team scholar and sportsmanship awards and more. The district, with a new science research program in 2012, moreover boasted its first Intel Science Talent Search semifinalist in 2016. William Floyd moreover made national and international news when one of our students was wonted to all eight Ivy League colleges, in what may have been the first overly feat of this kind. In an effort to prepare students to be career and higher ready and competitive in a 21st century global environment, William Floyd has a wide variety of offerings including a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program with academies in the fields of automotive technology, towers trades & construction, business, cosmetology, hospitality services (culinary arts) and medical assisting; a science research program; a top notch fine arts program; a Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Distinguished Unit and much more. The high school moreover offers challenging curriculum with honors and wide placement courses in:WideArt, Biology, Calculus (AB & BC), Chemistry, English Language & Composition, English Literature and Composition, Environmental Science, Macroeconomics, Physics B, Spanish Language & Culture, U.S. Government & Politics, U.S. History, and World History. Additionally, dual enrollment courses are misogynist for higher credit through partnerships with Dowling College, Farmingdale College, St. John’s University and Suffolk County Community College. We constantly strive to provide the most positive educational wits possible for the children in our district. With defended faculty, staff, administrators, involved parents and the greatest kids on Long Island, we believe that a unconfined future lies ahead. With the motto, “Our Rich History Builds a Promising Future,” past, present and future Colonials can fathom the history, resilience and excellence of the district and its namesake, William Floyd, one of only 56 men to sign the Declaration of Independence.
